Dr. Kai Barthel from the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, and founder of visual image search company Pixolution, discussed his company's solution to some of the shortcomings of keyword searches on the internet. With millions of images to choose from, the ambiguities of language often make keyword search results unsatisfactory. Dr Barthel showed how his software can sort hundreds of images onto a web page so that the user can visually identify the type of image they want to narrow down the results in a very short space of time.
